Capacity Building at Burapha University, Thailand

The fourth Capacity Building program within the Strategic Intellectual and Property Management Workshop for Effective Research and Innovations in Asian Higher Education (SPIRE) project was hosted by Burapha University, Thailand from 18-20 July 2018.

Trainers from the Alma Mater Studiorum University of Bologna (UNIBO) addressed various strategic and practical aspects of patents management and entrepreneurship in HEIs. The specific objectives of this training were as follows:

  • To explore the strategies and organizational models implemented to pursue a fruitful and effective patents management and to foster the academic entrepreneurship;
  • To get familiar with procedures, regulations, tools, activities, approaches and practices in managing patents and entrepreneurship in HEIs, also in view of sharing experiences EU/Asia;
  • To work together on some cases regarding important opportunities but also critical aspects of the patent management and academic entrepreneurship.

Dr. Boonyarath Pratoomchat, in his welcoming speech, said that innovative activities will spur and enhance nation's economic growth. He hoped that this training would be a step towards the creation of an efficient institutional policies, managerial practices and environment for sustainable innovation-based economy.

The project is co-funded by Erasmus+ of the European Union.
