Study Visit to Masaryk University, Czech Republic and University of Bologna, Italy

Pursuant to the Erasmus SPIRE Kick-Off Meeting at UTM, KL from 11 May to 12 May 2017, a study visit was conducted at Masaryk University (MU), Czech Republic & University of Bologna (Unibo), Italy, in September 2017. The study visit focused on enhancing human capacity concerning knowledge, managerial and administrative skills in the organisation of IP Management & Technology Transfer Units.

The study visit provided an opportunity for all participants to learn the IP Management and strategies of technology transfer adopted by these 2 institutions and their experience in terms of technology transfer. It is apparent that for a university innovation to achieve its market success, there is a need for conducive environment and effective involvement of individuals from different sections of a company, namely, R&D experts, Marketing, IP Management (Knowledge Transfer Office) & Technology Transfer Office, Legal, etc., apart from external service providers, business partners, venture capitalists, angels and users.

The experience from these two institutions should serve as an inspiration for MMU. Multimedia University would like to express our gratitude to the representatives of Masaryk University and University of Bologna for providing valuable information and kind support during our stay there.
